Be sure and check event call-in dates and times as some are early call-ins. Rodeo News: June isn't even over yet and it's already been a crazy month. I hope things have been less hectic for the rest of you. Memberships are coming in every day. As to date, there are 58 brand new members. If you haven't got your new membership, get it bought soon, it helps the rodeo secretaries with their work. Well, the rodeo season is in full swing and June is half over, which means cowboy christmas is around the corner. July will be a busy month, make sure you go over the rodeo listings. Also, make sure you check the call in dates, some have early call-ins. As you can tell by the standings, there has already been a lot going on in the IRA. The top 15 are filling up fast. Plans are falling into place for the IRA Finals. The Finals are once again going to be in Denison, IA. on October 2, 3, & 4. All members need to help the Board of Directors get sponsorships. If you have some leads or someone who wants to sponsor the Finals, please contact your event director. My father-in-law (Dale Nelson) had a triple by-pass so I'm sure he would appreciate some phone calls while recovering. Get well wishes also go out to former BB rider Justin Staver. He is recovering from a plane crash. Please remember if a rodeo is co-sponsored with the MSRA and they have 1st approval, they do not honor buddy passes. If you have a change of address, make sure you call the office and leave your new address. It cost the IRA to send a newsletter to the wrong address. I hope you all make a pile of money on the 4th of July run. As for us, we will be in Gallup at the Jr. High Finals spending money! Good Luck and we'll see you after the 4th.   Jeff Oestmann Mark Your Calendars and start saving for 2009 Finals!!! October 2, 3, & 4 Finals will again be in Denison, IA. Remember to make your hotel reservations early as accomodations are limited! 2009 New Rules The Board of Directors will hire the Finals Personnel. Slack Events - The arena must be worked at the beginning and after the barrels if ran before the timed events. In the timed events - to finish an event, there must be 1/2 enough cattle to finish the event. If not, then a round of each will be run. Team Roping must be $200.00 minimum per end. If any barrier malfunctions, contestant must have a qualified time to get his/her stock over or declare him/herself. Family members can not be on the Board at the same time. If O/40 Calf Roping, Calf Roping and Breakaway Roping split their time up all thru the year and make the Finals in these events, they will be able to go to the Finals. Calf Roping & O/40 - Contestant must rope calf, dismount, throw calf by hand and cross and tie any three legs. To qualify for a legal tie, there shall be at least one wrap around all three legs and a half-hitch. Please remember to purchase your 2009 Memberships!!! ATTENTION IRA CONTRACTORS You need to read your rule book, on Rodeo Approvals and rodeo results. Please remember rodeo approvals are due in the office 45 days prior to the event. Rodeo results are 10 days after the event. For those M-SRA rodeos that co-approve URA, IRA, etc. the boys (under 14 with current membeships in their association) will be able to rope in the ladies breakaway and the CR-40 guys ( with current membership in their association & according to their association rules).
